Overview

Al-Iqtisod: Ekonomi Syariah implements a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review process to ensure the quality, originality, academic integrity, and scholarly contribution of every manuscript published. In this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

The journal is committed to providing a fair, transparent, objective, and timely review process in accordance with the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).


Review Process Flow

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors submit manuscripts through the Online Journal System (OJS) by completing all required metadata and uploading the manuscript according to the journal template.


2. Initial Editorial Screening

The Editorial Team conducts an initial assessment to determine whether the manuscript:

  • Fits the aims and scope of the journal.

  • Meets the journal's formatting requirements.

  • Demonstrates sufficient academic quality.

  • Complies with ethical standards.

  • Passes plagiarism screening.

At this stage, manuscripts may be:

  • Proceeded to review.

  • Returned for technical revision.

  • Rejected due to scope mismatch or insufficient quality.

Estimated Time: 3–7 days.


3. Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.

The journal generally requires:

  • Similarity Index ≤ 20%.

  • Maximum similarity from a single source ≤ 5%.

Manuscripts exceeding these thresholds may be returned for revision or rejected.


4. Reviewer Assignment

The Editor assigns at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.

Reviewers are selected based on:

  • Academic qualifications.

  • Subject expertise.

  • Publication record.

  • Absence of conflicts of interest.


5. Double-Blind Peer Review

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

Originality

  • Novelty of ideas.

  • Contribution to Islamic Economics and Finance.

Significance

  • Academic and practical relevance.

Methodological Rigor

  • Appropriateness of research design.

  • Data quality and analysis.

Clarity and Organization

  • Structure and readability.

References

  • Adequacy and currency of cited literature.

Ethical Compliance

  • Research integrity and ethical considerations.

Estimated Review Time: 2–4 weeks.


6. Review Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

Accept

The manuscript is suitable for publication without further revision.

Minor Revisions

Small improvements are required before publication.

Major Revisions

Substantial revisions are required and may require re-review.

Resubmit for Review

The manuscript requires extensive modification and will undergo a new review cycle.

Reject

The manuscript does not meet the journal's publication standards.


7. Editorial Decision

The Editor evaluates reviewer reports and makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept Submission.

  • Revisions Required.

  • Resubmit for Review.

  • Reject Submission.

The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.


8. Author Revision

Authors are required to:

  • Address all reviewer comments.

  • Submit a revised manuscript.

  • Provide a detailed response letter explaining revisions made.

Revision deadlines:

Failure to submit revisions within the specified period may result in withdrawal of the manuscript.


9. Second Review (If Necessary)

For manuscripts requiring major revisions, the revised version may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.

The reviewers assess whether their comments have been adequately addressed.


10. Final Acceptance

Once the manuscript satisfies all academic, technical, and ethical requirements, the Editor issues an official acceptance decision.

Authors will receive an Acceptance Letter via the OJS platform and/or email.


11. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo:

  • Language editing.

  • Formatting verification.

  • Reference checking.

  • Layout editing.

Authors may be asked to review proofs before publication.


12. Publication

After completion of the production process, the article is published online and assigned:

  • DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

  • Volume and Issue Number.

  • Publication Date.


Ethical Standards During Review

Editors and reviewers must:

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Avoid conflicts of interest.

  • Conduct objective evaluations.

  • Respect intellectual property rights.

  • Adhere to COPE ethical guidelines.

Authors must:

  • Cooperate during revisions.

  • Provide accurate data.

  • Respond professionally to reviewer comments.
