Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

Al-Iqtisod: Ekonomi Syariah is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the guidelines and best practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in Al-Iqtisod: Ekonomi Syariah is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge in Islamic Economics and Finance. It reflects the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. Therefore, all parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers—must agree upon standards of ethical behavior.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published based on their scholarly merit, originality, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content without discrimination regarding race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and publisher as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript will not be used in editors’ own research without the author's explicit written consent.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and may help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.

Promptness

Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the manuscript or knows that timely review will be impossible should notify the editor and decline the review invitation.

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Objectivity Standards

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, institutional, or personal relationships.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors should present accurate accounts of the work performed and provide an objective discussion of its significance.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are entirely original and properly cite the work of others. Plagiarism in all forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and should be prepared to make such data available when appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their findings.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

Research Integrity

Authors are expected to:

  • Conduct research honestly and transparently.

  • Avoid fabrication, falsification, and manipulation of data.

  • Ensure research involving human participants complies with ethical standards.

  • Obtain necessary permissions and approvals before conducting research.

Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to Al-Iqtisod: Ekonomi Syariah will undergo plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software.

The journal generally requires:

  • Similarity Index: Maximum 20%

  • No single source exceeding 5%

Manuscripts failing to meet these requirements may be rejected without peer review.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for language editing and grammar improvement. However:

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and originality of the content.

  • The use of AI tools must be disclosed when it substantially contributes to manuscript preparation.

Peer Review Policy

Al-Iqtisod: Ekonomi Syariah applies a:

where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

Review outcomes may include:

Publication Malpractice

The following actions constitute publication malpractice:

  • Plagiarism

  • Data fabrication

  • Data falsification

  • Citation manipulation

  • Duplicate publication

  • Authorship manipulation

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • Peer-review manipulation

Any proven misconduct may result in:

  • Manuscript rejection

  • Retraction of published articles

  • Notification to authors’ institutions

  • Temporary or permanent submission bans

Corrections and Retractions

The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. When necessary, the journal will publish:

Open Access Policy
